A girlfriend claimed that she just couldn’t appreciate the under-glazing （釉下彩） or high fire color glazing（高溫顔色釉） ceramics.

‘Why don’t you play with some colors, patterns or over-glazing (釉上彩) decoration?’ she asked.
‘Because its very simple, stable, and not much challenge of crafting.’ I said.

Yet one day I was done drawing on a major project (which has been failed for n times.) and wandering around with my pen & sketchbook… It came to me that maybe simple color, pattern, or over-glazing are a lack of craftsmanship; but craftsmanship is not necessary the only thing to create sweet objects or having fun.

So here goes the pattern.
high fire (1320C) for mat white glaze;
2nd fire 800C for the colors.

I only made few pieces for fun.
And it’s a great pleasure to share some creating processes with you

冬至日。
今年冬至氣氛別樣，比去年多些蕭條。

冬至雨，元旦晴；
不曉得早晨微雨又泥髒的陰灰上海，是否為來年埋下將晴的伏筆？

昨夜從老西門回家，路上的燒烤小攤旁圍繞宵夜散客，炭烤氣味撲到臉上。其實不冷，我卻將臉更深的埋到圍巾裏；回頭望向那個透出白色燈光的窗口，窗内人情緒翻騰，將度過幾個難眠的夜。

回家已不早，E仍漏夜拎來蛋餃，等在約好的路口交給我，交待今天煎熱吃。E說 ” 這讓你來年豐收，我花一整天包的，不要嫌棄。知道你不愛吃肉，裏頭多素菜，也沒加味精。”

我來不及謝，十字路口的交通燈一下子轉綠。
她拍拍我“趕緊回去吧，冷。我也走了。”
手中一盒蛋餃妥善包在布裏，布還暖，留有E的溫度。

約她碰面的那路口風大，我到得遲，她頭髮都亂了。
見E過馬路的身影，很後悔自己缺考量。

這周確實比往常更疲倦更忙碌；
舒緩的bossa nova和comfort food 在陰鬱的冬至裏令人感到平靜，於是能夠從快板行腳中找到換氣的小v。

早晨弟弟穿著明快粉紅毛衫，靠在黃色沙發上和我吃brunch。或許因爲音樂和食物的香氣，窗外那片因濃塵而呈現低飽和度城市風景，顯得像這不安定的一年沉澱出的紀錄片海報。

見弟弟端咖啡坐在我對面，顔色好看，就拿卡片機拍下來。

這杯子是為驅寒預備的暖色調；
創作時腦袋裏想象的畫面，是穿著柔軟毛衣的男孩女孩，將腳隨意擱在泛舊色的沙發上，女孩頭上有粗織的毛綫帽，腳上或許隨意搭著印第安花紋的毯子，男孩不怕冷，但也將穿灰色襪子的腳放到毯子下和女孩取暖。他們手上各自捧一杯熱甜酒或是咖啡，很愉快的聊天，男孩或許會因爲笑得開心，將杯子裏的飲料不小心撒到抱在肚子前的靠墊上…

杯形、泥料和小小房子切色的決定，都是預先在幾次手稿裏修改確定下來的。

杯子把手的形狀也是，但本來的設計並非手擀成條、成型、乾接，而是扁形寬片的。試作出來，覺得手感不對，這麽小的杯子用細陶泥應該更溫潤，所以又嘗試兩種把手，選出比較滿意的這個。

試釉時，亮黃透底色泥料的”薑黃”（ginger）一下子就調出來了，透明度很好；

但是含藍的”姜餅“(gingerbread)釉卻很麻煩。
裏面的鈷不知何故相當不穩定，不僅有平常近火離火處的問題，還容易四壁高差。調整比例是1%、1%的增減….

最後開窯時分別成功二十餘個那麽多，我們都高興，就煮來熱姜茶，用變形厲害的幾個分著喝，覺著甜姜味似乎更香。心理作用呢。

太仔細分享創作的過程還不習慣；
但朋友們因爲更理解創作過程、而能和我有更深入的交流，這令我感到很應該這麽做。時間雖然不怎麽允許在網路上停留這麽長，但我會盡量的。

It was nice to join the arts & design Christmas bazaar hosted by ‘the studio’ Shanghai.

Although the venue was a bit too petite and time was too short, the great holiday spirits were nicely spread by visitors and artists. The crowds had filled the small apartment with coziness and charm.
(too bad the small spot has limited the items to display…)

I’ve also got to meet several nice people.
It was a pity that some of them were rushing to go and couldn’t chat more. I would definitely love to find further chance to share more thoughts with them.

The sales was not necessary the most important thing to join the bazaar, but to share some of my works and interacting with people who enjoy them. Since this chance of meeting the crowds, I was aware of how lack of communication I have been while indulging myself in creating ceramic objects.

Most of people are not familiar with the differences between porcelain, pottery or stoneware. Furthermore, they wouldn’t know there were ‘heat’ differences while firing the different clays & glazes in the kiln.

I am grateful for who appreciate and enjoy my works for simple reasons; yet I feel hearty to share more about high fire (cone 10 and above) ceramics.

Since I wouldn’t be able to establish my studio in Shanghai soon (for over half of a year, I stay in Jingdezhen working with fresh clay and creating works…I couldn’t afford to rent another spot in the city.). I will manage to update more here in my blog and upload more of my works in the future.

I shall soon launch more stuff on the web too.

after the bazaar that night at the studio, I moved the shelf to Dukou bookstore on the same street. And arrange some stuff on it.

The space was too small …people couldn’t even see the works.
Hopefully now the shelf could serve a better display.

Many friends are asking about more channel to see my works, but I couldn’t have enough energy to handle the issue. I will try to work on it asap. Thank you!!! ^^

Art & Design Christmas Bazzar

剛搞定網站，這邊廂又接獲一個小活動，是本周日(12/07)在巨鹿路靠近富民路口一個弄堂内，一群合租工作室的藝術家和設計師們舉辦的活動。

其實他們已經忙活很久，只是我剛回來沒幾天，也才剛了解内容。
由於對我而言時間相當緊湊，空間也很小，所以有點擔心到時候能拿出去的作品比較有限。

但是我會加油的~還是盡量整理多一點去湊熱鬧。
大多數的市集我都沒有湊熱鬧的興趣，但這個小地方的聖誕氛圍很濃，令人忍不住想加入一下

周日若是好天氣，就去轉轉吧~
可能的話，我會盡量待在那裏。
(不過記得穿溫暖點，雖然有陽光，但是很冷呀！)
